Cobblestone Advancements in Technology

Cobblestone has now crossed over into the new technology of Electronic Medical Records.  In early January 2012 Cobblestone employees began training on new Electronic Medical Records, and we went live with our new processes later that month.

If you have been over to Cobblestone recently you probably have noticed our new Dell Touch screens that are inset in the hallways of Cobblestone. These touch screens are where the certified nurse’s assistants now perform their documentation immediately as they exit a member’s room.

This has improved our documentation by helping capture a more complete assessment of care the member has received, and therefore, increasing our revenue reimbursement for each member.

It is also a faster way of documentation for the C. N. A. so it allows for more time for actual care to be spent with the resident.  These nurses are now documenting their progress notes on the computer and entering admission assessments, daily, weekly and quarterly assessments.

This is only phase one of our Electronic Medical Records process, phase two is scheduled to begin mid April, and phase three should be completed before the end of the year.  It will be mandatory by 2014 for all medical facilities to go to using Electronic Medical Records, so we applaud Cobblestone staff for the efforts to work hard and get ahead of the regulatory deadlines and continuing to provide skilled nursing in Atlanta.

Event Season Upon Us

Jim Schneeberger

A subject near and dear to everyone’s heart and stomach is… food!  As we enter October, Park Springs becomes one of the top places for special events within the Atlanta senior living community.  Many Members and their families have already planned their Holiday Events with the Food and Beverage Management Team and several have already occurred.

From 8 to 130 in attendance special events with special menus, family recipes and special themes have been booked through the end of the year.  Park Springs takes great pride in the party and event planning and the smiles that appear on Atlanta active adult Members and their guests are a testament to how well the events go.

With opportunities in anyone of our special dining areas we have accommodations to fit the most private and intimate to also creating the most colossal events.  The great thing about the events held at Park Springs is that there are never two events that are exactly the same. Every event has its own unique touch and that touch comes from working closely with the Members and their families.

The ambience created from just being at Park Springs inspires creativity like no other place.  The feeling one gets from the entry way and portico to the room where the event is being staged is one of comfort and enjoyment.  The Food and Beverage Department at Park Springs looks forward to taking care of you and your family for your special events during this Holiday Season.

It’s a Lovely Way to Spend an Evening

The Southeast’s premier continuing care retirement community, Park Springs is gearing up again for their annual community performance. Directed by Marvin Himmel, this musical extravaganza is no small town show.

For the past two months, the Park Springs cast and crew has been hard at work putting together this year’s performance: “It’s a Lovely Way to Spend an Evening.”  Participants meet twice a week for rehearsals and all of the proceeds from the show will go to paying for the costumes and props needed to bring the experience to life.

The first segment of the 2009 performance will include a tribute to female icons including Judy Garland, Ethel Merman and Carol Channing. The second segment will shift focus to Broadway tunes including five songs from Guys and Dolls. Musical numbers from The Music Man, West Side Story, The Phantom of the Opera, Chorus Line and Sweet Charity will all be performed as well.

Marvin is a former child actor and Broadway showman has lived as an Atlanta active adult in the Park Springs community for the past five years. For the past three, he has directed the annual holiday show. The performance has proven so popular that four shows were added to the  schedule this year to accommodate all of the Park Springs Members who were unable to attend last year.

The closed event will be performed for Park Springs Members  December 9 through December 12. Tickets sold out only 18 hours after sales began, proving that this year’s performance should be just as big of a hit as years past.

Park Springs hosts ‘Merry Day of Fun’

It’s not unusual to find those living at Park Springs getting ready for an activity or a social event. The Atlanta area retirement community is always planning fun filled activities for their residents and December 18 is no exception. On this day from 1:30 to 7 residents can take part in “A Merry Day of Fun.”

The day will be full of activities starting with a silent auction at 1:30 in the Community Hall and another live auction and festive holiday party starting at 5:30. The Atlanta active adult Members at Park Springs won’t want to miss out, because there will be fabulous items being auctioned off like stays at vacation homes, hotels, and bed and breakfasts, gift certificates, fine jewelry and art work just to name a few. The main attraction will take place from 2 to 6 when residents can enjoy a themed tour of twenty homes and villas throughout the community decked out in holiday splendor. This is a good time to get ideas to decorate your own home.

This will be a great way for Members and others in the community to enjoy all the excitement the holidays have to offer and are encouraged to invite friends and family to share the fun with. A large turnout is expected, so there will be a shuttle running to and from the Target on 2055 W Park Place Blvd. For those who wish to come, the shuttles will run every 20 minutes from 1:30 to 7:30.
